Gathering Storm is an adventure in Club Penguin Island. It is received from Aunt Arctic, and is the fifth episode in Chapter 2: Shocking Secrets. During this adventure, the player must clean up damage caused by Herbert's voltaic laser.
The adventure starts with Aunt Arctic informing that after hindering Herbert's laser, there is breathing room to work on plans to stop him. She introduces the player to Rookie, who she says could use this as a learning opportunity. While Rookie expresses his excitement to do secret agent work, a message comes up on the computer next to Aunt Arctic. Herbert speaks, saying that he will not allow the player to get away with sabotaging his laser, which he proceeds to use, although not at full strength, to shoot at the island with the power of 100 megavolts. Aunt Arctic urges the player to quickly go to Coconut Cove and has Rookie keep watch.
Upon arriving at the Cove, the player must go to the lifeguard station, where Aunt Arctic asks Jet Pack Guy to report on what happened. He says that, although he is unharmed, the station is heavily damaged. Aunt Arctic says that damage must be repaired before panic spreads, and orders the player to gather sea sponges in The Sea Caves to clean up. After six are gathered, the player must bring them back to the station, and then clean it. Aunt Arctic says that next, building supplies are needed, and driftwood around the Cove can be used.
After five piles are gathered, the player must use a jackhammer to repair the station with the wood. This repairs the cracks, and next, the glass must be pieced back together. After the station is fully fixed, Aunt Arctic tells the player to back to the Boardwalk and brief Rookie on what happen. Upon arrival however, Aunt Arctic is shocked to see that the hot sauce reservoir is gone, and demands a report from Rookie. Rookie claims that he kept watch, specifically, "watched Herbert walk to the Exchange" and "watched him walk off with the hot sauce." Aunt Arctic notes Herbert will most likely use the reservoir to charge his voltaic ray, and that it must be retrieved, and tells the player to guard the island while the next course of action is planned. The player then receives the 8-bit Herbertunique item, 50 coins, and 150 green XP.
